ok i have naturally straigth hair. it is somewhere between thick and normal. it gets greasy quickly but has little flyaways which makes it look dry and frizzy. i know this is bad but i blowdry my hair almost everyday but i use a heat protectant spray.

What is the best shampoo/conditioner for thick hair?
So, I have thick hair. It has a lot of body and overall is just thick, like most thick hair it can get frizzy and what not. It is also a bit wavy.
I was wondering, what is the best shampoo/conditioner for it that I can buy just at like my local drug store?

I have the same exact kind of hair. I use Neutrogena Triple Moisture Cream Lather Shampoo paired with their Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner. I also use the conditioner on my daughter's hair because her hair is thick %26amp; naturally curly. I usually buy it at Target. I like to use a comb to distribute the conditioner through my hair evenly and then let it soak in for about 5 minutes or so. I recently tried Burt's Bee's grapefruit shampoo and conditioner and it worked great for me. It gently cleaned without adding more to my hair and weighing it down. well, it's expensive because it works, but you really should listen to this one. it is called:
BIOLAGE smooth therape ; it's a line of hair care. buy the whole line and you will get results in about two weeks because your hair has to get used to it. it comes with a shampoo, conditioner, and a smoothing serum which is water based, so it won't leave a film of it on your hair.
btw: if somebody tells you to use a dime sized amount of the shampoo, don't listen to them, more of the shampoo is better, and because you're hair is greasy only put the conditioner on the hair that lines up from your ears down. no scalp.

I am a liscenced hairstylist. Silky shiny ';looking'; hair can be achieved by using a combination of products. Using the right products for shine and softness is great, along a regime of brushing your hair daily. Using a natural boar bristle brush, brush your hair from root to end to distribute your body's natural moisturizers (oils) will keep your hair soft smooth and shiny. Definately the healthier simpler way ;)

I read that if you condition just the ends of your hair, it will become more silky and shiny. It was also suggested to condition the ends twice. I have found that if you take the time to really rinse after each conditioning to the point of squeekiness, the hair will become more fluffy, shiny and managable
Depending on what hair type you are there are many products out that can help. I would suggest going to sally beauty supply in your local area and getting help from the staff there. Its open to the public and believe me they are great in helping with problem hair. hope this helped. I work there so I know.
pantine pro v sleek and shine shampoo and conditioner. makes your hair super silky smooth. but you have to blowdry your hair and straighten it to really get what you want
Actually, putting vinegar in your hair works pretty well. You just wash it out really well, or else your hair will look oily. Also, Herbal Essences conditioner and shampoos are really effective.

I am a liscenced hairstylist. Silky shiny ';looking'; hair can be achieved by using a combination of products. Using the right products for shine and softness is great, along a regime of brushing your hair daily. Using a natural boar bristle brush, brush your hair from root to end to distribute your body's natural moisturizers (oils) will keep your hair soft smooth and shiny. I read that if you condition just the ends of your hair, it will become more silky and shiny. It was also suggested to condition the ends twice. I have the same exact kind of hair. I use Neutrogena Triple Moisture Cream Lather Shampoo paired with their Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner. I like to use a comb to distribute the conditioner through my hair evenly and then let it soak in for about 5 minutes or so. When I use honey as a shampoo or I leave in it for an hour or two, it makes it extremely soft and I can comb right through it. When you apply honey on longer hair, it volumizes the hair and conditions it. You can look it up anywhere. Honey has been a natural conditioning hair treatment for years.

Next time you visit the grocery store, go to the cosmetics aisle and go to the section that has hair products. Locate the Pantene products and look for the bottle labeled ';smooth';. It might have something like ';smooth and silky';, but just look for the bottle with the green label (not ';classic clean'; because that also comes in a green bottle).

Next time you visit the grocery store, go to the cosmetics aisle and go to the section that has hair products. Locate the Pantene products and look for the bottle labeled ';smooth';. It might have something like ';smooth and silky';, but just look for the bottle with the green label (not ';classic clean'; because that also comes in a green bottle).

You need to drop a little $$ and get a moisturizing shampoo such as paul mitchell and get a moisturizing conditioner (try to get both products made by the same manufacturer- And then- if you have time, try to deep condition your hair once a week- if that is ridiculous to you- just by a spray-in leave-in conditioner that also detangles. (you spray it on when you get out of the shower and it detangles and makes it shiny, and continued use makes your hair more managable.) I recommend thermasilk leave-in conditioner and detangler (especially if you blowdry your hair. good luck!

As one person noted, Pantene is also a very good choice but a little more expensive. They offer a few more treatment choices, for example if you want to emphasize thickness.
You would probably benefit from rotating your shampoo for a week after you finish a bottle of HE. Maybe buy a very small bottle of Pantene or use another family members shampoo for a week. Then go back to your favorite shampoo. Enjoy your shampoo, guilt free.

That means you aren't washing your shampoo all the way out. When rinsing shampoo rinse if for about 3 minutes.

If you used a bleach based product that takes color out of your hair, you'll either have to wait it out or dye it again. If you used a dye product (like caramel), you can get a chemical strip to get all of the dyes out of your hair. As for a quick wash, I doubt there's anything out there. Stripping your hair is fairly inexpensive though if you do it yourself, but as I said, if you have blond highlights like most people get with a bleach base, the only way to get rid of it quickly is to dye it. Good luck.

Right, Toni and Guy recently did a redesign of their hair styling products range. The packaging is now in tall bottles rather than in the bags like it used to be. yes it does, you're supposed to change your shampoo %26amp; conditioner because your hair gets used to the ones you use all the time! I think because the new one (cheaper) probably has more detergent and is more harsh so it cleans all of the residue off your hair better than the nice expensive conditioning one. I do that to my daughters hair every once in a while to get it really clean. But then I switch back because the cheap-o one all the time would be too harsh and drying.
This happens to me too! I think your hair probably looks better now because your new shampoo removed all of the build-up left by the other products that you were using before. That's why it's a good idea to switch up your shampoo and conditioner routine once and awhile.

I think because the new one (cheaper) probably has more detergent and is more harsh so it cleans all of the residue off your hair better than the nice expensive conditioning one. I do that to my daughters hair every once in a while to get it really clean. But then I switch back because the cheap-o one all the time would be too harsh and drying.
This happens to me too! I think your hair probably looks better now because your new shampoo removed all of the build-up left by the other products that you were using before. That's why it's a good idea to switch up your shampoo and conditioner routine once and awhile.

I don't pay that close attention, but I've noticed this too.
It's like your hair becomes immune to a certain shampoo over time.
yeah hah, it just because youve used your other shampoo for a while, so a new one makes a big difference.
It makes a little sense.
I never really pay that much attention.
But now that I think of it,it does make my hair look better...
its actually been found out to be healthy for your hair to change your shampoo each time, but it can be costly.
