Also, how often should I bathe my puppy? She's going to be about 8-10 weeks old when I get her and she's a chihuahua, if it matters. Thanks :DWhat kind of shampoo/conditioner works best on your dog?
A non-detergent oatmeal shampoo works best for my dog. It is gentle on his sensitive skin, and doesn't remove the Frontline or Advantage topical flea treatments. What kind of shampoo/conditioner works best on your dog?
Shampoo often works best. It is gentle on the dogs skin and if it gets in their ears or eyes it wont hurt them or cause damage. The shampoo is made not strong or to heavily scented because baby's skin tend to irritate easily. So o dogs. So that the baby shampoo is great.
i like to use Johnson ad Johnson baby shampoo. It is very gentle on their skin and if it gets in their eyes it does not burn. dogs have a tendency to look down to try to drink the water.
Most dogs/puppies don't need to be wash very often, esp. a chihuahua. But bathing the dog once a week should be fine. Be sure to avoid their ears when washing. I like to use fresh n clean it keeps my dog smelling clean and lightly fragrance for a week.
You should only bathe a dog once a month. Any more often than that will dry out their skin causing them to itch and get dandruff. The Shampoo i use is made by the Kelco Company. They are all natural without any harsh chemicals. My favorites being Wild Animal, Oats Fur Coats, Dirty Dog, and Pennyroyal. My Favorite conditioners being Ultra Silk and Apple oats. The Kelco line of Shampoo's and conditioners is what the professional dog groomers use and is what is used on the AKC show dogs that compete in Westminster.
To find out where to you can buy it google. ';Kelco inc. Shampoo';. You can most likey be able to buy it from your local grooming salon or a small independant pet store. Petco or PetSmart don't carry it.
